ABOUT US

Mrs A’s Music School is owned by Jannette and Deon Aldridge. They manage a team of part-time music teachers across Timaru and Waimate and currently help over 250 students at various ages and stages, ‘release the music’.

Jannette’s goal is to help people of all ages and stages unleash their musical potential. Teaching in school classrooms and private studios for over 30 years, has given her the experience to find the recipe.

Elsie Finlay, Jannette’s late mother, passed on her legacy. She believed that everyone needs music. She knitted jerseys and socks to fund music lessons for her four children and ignited the passion for music in them all.

  • “Practice makes perfect”. If you want to get the most from your lessons, it’s always best if you put some time practising. There are no tests so we don’t look at it as homework! Once you learn the basics it will be fun. And the more you learn the more enjoyable it becomes.

  • Not a problem, cancelations happen. Notify your teacher as soon as possible by text or phone is the best method of communication. Alternatively contact Jannette Aldridge 0276864877 .

Lessons are booked for the full term.

A teacher is rostered and paid for that time. Missed or cancelled lessons are not refundable, however, we will send you a video lesson or possibly zoom lesson. Sometimes, if sufficient notice is given, we can reschedule.

  • No, never! Music is fun for all ages. There are huge benefits to learning something new. Come and give it a shot, see if you enjoy it.

  • Not at all, it’s totally up to you and your child. You are welcome to stay in any lesson. With younger children, we find it best if you come along for the first few lessons until your child is confident and happy.

  • This depends entirely on the individual. In some cases, a student may be ready to move onto new challenges and in other cases it may mean the student will need to ‘face reality with honesty and courage’ and push through. It is important that both student and teacher ‘find the recipe’.

  • If your schedule changes part way through term, we will try to find a new consistent lesson time where practicable, however we cannot guarantee this.
